HK Wine in Las Vegas

“Je voudrais un verre de ‘Hello Kitty’ vin s'il vous plait.”

(That's "I would like a glass of Hello Kitty wine please" for non Francophiles.)

The Sanrio cartoon cat rarely has sounded so fancy — or so unexpected. That’s because wine now can be added to the long list of Hello Kitty-related products (alongside contact lenses, tattoos and even vibrators!)

While perusing the list of vendors that will be in Las Vegas for the 2010 Nightclub & Bar convention March 8-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, one booth on the map jumped out at us: Hello Kitty Wines. (OK two; Big Ass Fans has a nice ring to it.)

Yes, our little girl is all grown up ... and drinking. But she’s been of age for years anyway (Hello Kitty was "born" in 1974), so it’s all good.

Innovation Spirits recently unveiled the Hello Kitty Wines in four varieties, but forget the notion the vino will taste like cotton candy. Produced by the family-run Torti Tenimenti Castelrotto vineyard founded in 1910 in Italy, this wine is made from some serious grapes.

All the four Hello Kitty wines are 100 percent Pinot Noir. The Brut Rosé comes with a special Hello Kitty Pendant with a ribbon in the colors of the Italian flag, and the Rosé demi-sec dubbed Sweet Pink makes for an ideal dessert paring. Hello Kitty Wines also offers Angel White and Devil Red.

Curious NC&B convention attendees can walk the pink carpet like a VIP at the Hello Kitty Wines booth and sample some of the kitty’s creations. Whether they’re the cat’s meow or not, we’ll just have to wait and see.
