Block out your calendars Sanrio friends, because Sanrio's 50th Anniversary Celebrations are coming to a city near you!
Starting at the end of October, Sanrio's Small Gift: Celebrating 50 Years of Sanrio is launching in San Francisco – this is a nationwide celebration that will include a cross-country mobile pop-up shop tour and special anchor events in Los Angeles and Miami with popular characters Hello Kitty, My Melody, Badtz Maru, etc. The mobile pop-up shop starts its way in San Francisco, and will make stops in Las Vegas, Austin, and many more on its way to New York, ending in mid-December. The pop-up shop will carry classic Sanrio items as well as unique limited edition items from various collaborators. Collaborations include Tokidoki, Lomography, Mimoco, and many many others.
The Los Angeles anchor event will launch on November 12 and run through November 21,In addiiton to the pop-up shop, the event will also feaure nostalgic game booths and prizes, food trucks, and an art show including installations from several of the 50 participating artists, each creating their personal interpretation of Sanrio characters.
The Miami event will launch December 2 and run through December 5 to coincide with Art Basel and will be aimed at Sanrio fans and the art community alike. The celebration will feature several elements of the Los Angeles event such as the character product retrospective, pop-up shop and interactive activities while bringing a different set of artists and special art-specific programming to the fans.
Both Los Angeles and Miami events will incorporate charitable components specific to each city.
Small Gift will share a memorable experience and smiles with fans across the country while offering a variety of keepsake Sanrio items and limited edition products to commemorate the company’s golden anniversary. A special 50th Anniversary iPhone App will provide fun facts about all the characters and allow fans to track all 50th Anniversary events, including truck location and product releases.
