Hello Kitty Carnival

Hello Kitty’s Carnival

by Dinna Chan Vasquez

Every year, Robinsons Malls lights up summer with different attractions and activities usually anchored on a certain theme. Last year, it was dinosaurs. This year, it hosts the iconic and well-loved Hello Kitty until April 26.

The event is in partnership with Great Gifts Sales and Licensing International Corp., the official licensing and distribution agent of Sanrio and Gift Gate in the Philippines. Toys R’ Us and Toybox are the events official retail partners.

Robinsons Malls and Great Gifts have organized Hello Kitty activities, games and shows for kids and the young at heart to enjoy. These include magic shows, balloon twisting, pop the balloon and tin alley.

To complete the experience, there will be a meet-and-greet with Hello Kitty.

Eunice Gonzales, Robinsons Malls marketing communications manager, says the activities will be staged in an interactive manner.

“This is our way of providing a great venue for everyone to relive the nostalgia of Hello Kitty, which made its Philippine debut in the late 1970s. Hello Kitty has many young and adult followers,” says Gonzales.

Hello Kitty has had many collaborations, the last one for a cosmetics collection but Robinsons Mall’s version is really for kids in that it is wholesome, fun and loving.

Hello Kitty was created by Shintaro Shuji in the 1970s. Since then, the feline has become a stellar global brand and icon.

Hello Kitty is just one of the many characters that Sanrio has brought to life. Other cute and adorable members of the Sanrio family are Keroppi Hasunoue, Pochacco, Badtz-Maru, Little Twin Stars and My Melody.

By banking on the essence of gift giving, Sanrio and its line of merchandise have been known worldwide for nurturing friendships and relationships across the globe.

“We are very grateful to Robinsons Malls for the support and providing us the means to show Filipinos just how truly special Hello Kitty is and for giving us an opportunity to showcase our products, characters and our essence as a brand,” says Isabel Lopez, Great Gifts marketing and brand manager.

Carnival Fun with Hello Kitty will be at Robinsons Place Dasmariñas tomorrow, Robinsons Place Imus on Sunday, Robinsons Place Lipa on April 19, Robinsons Starmills on April 25 and Midtown at Robinsons Place Manila on April 26. Admission is free,

Activities will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. while the meet-and-greet will start every 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Sanrio fans can also drop by the Hello Kitty selling stations to score adorable and unique merchandise and novelty items.
